Purple Finch - Birds of Pennsylvania - 1953

Purple Finch and "Crimson Finch" as it is also known, is a bout as large as an English Sparrow. This is a winter migrant, feeding on the seeds of poplar, buttonwood, juniper, cedar, and rank weeds that flourish in the bottoms and along the margins of creeks.
